Sexual Abuse, Physical Abuse and Molestation Policy Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri has zero tolerance for any instances of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and/or molestation of any individual. Any staff member, volunteer, or independent contractor found to have engaged in any such activity will be terminated from their employment, volunteer role, and/or any other affiliation they have with Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri will also pursue any and all legal actions warranted in the event of an instance of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and/or molestation. Mandated reporters include Girl Scout volunteers and staff.

MISSION BRIEF

Every Girl Scout journey begins with an adventure. It may be trying something new, making a new friend, stepping outside of a comfort zone, or discovering an interest that opens the door to possibilities she had never imagined. However her journey begins, each experience is an opportunity to grow in confidence, courage, and leadership. As you explore this guide together, you will find experiences designed to help Girl Scouts discover their strengths, explore new interests, and have fun along the way. Throughout 2026–2027, Girl Scouts across eastern Missouri will build robots, explore college campuses, perform on stage, serve their communities, experience the outdoors, pursue their Highest Awards, and develop skills that will prepare them for wherever life takes them. Behind every experience is a larger purpose. We want girls to discover not only what they can do, but also who they can become. One opportunity I am especially proud to see continue growing is our AdvanceHER™ Leadership Program. Through partnerships with colleges and universities, workforce development experiences, scholarship opportunities, career exploration, mentorship, and leadership development, AdvanceHER™ helps Girl Scouts connect their interests and talents to future possibilities. Just as importantly, girls build the confidence, resilience, and skills to pursue their goals with purpose. It is one of the many ways Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri is preparing girls for leadership today and for the future. As CEO, one of the things I value most about Girl Scouts is the sense of belonging we create for girls. Every girl deserves a place where she can be herself, try something new, be challenged to grow, discover her unique strengths, and know that her That is what makes the year ahead so exciting.

In April, GSEM proudly hosted our 2nd annual World of Wonder Extravaganza. With more than 400 attendees, the day reflected the power of bringing girls, families and our community together!

It was a memorable night cheering on St. Louis CITY 2 alongside eastern Missouri Girl Scouts at Energizer Park’s first Girl Scout night!

When girls can see women leading in public safety, new career paths become possibilities! This year, I scaled a 100 foot ladder—one of the many thrilling challenges campers tackle during this week long camp. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the firefighters, police officers, EMS professionals and public safety leaders who share their expertise and serve as role models. Here’s to many more years of breaking barriers!

What a sweet season! I had the pleasure to visit several cookie booths across our council’s jurisdiction, engaging with our young leaders and championing their efforts firsthand.

The future of leadership is so bright! Attending the 58th National Council Session was a demonstration of leadership in action. I couldn’t be prouder of the leadership our GSEM delegates brought during our time in Washington, DC.

SERVICE CENTER TOURS Unlock the Secrets of the GSEM Headquarters! Ever wondered what powers the Girl Scout experience? Now Girl Scouts, caregivers and volunteers have the chance to go behind-the-scenes and discover where the magic happens!

From cookie headquarters to Daisy Drop Box and Brownie Bundle preparation, the council office is filled with activity. Curious about the Emerson Resource Center, Girl Scout Shop and the Build-A-Bear Workshop? Want

to see where special events come to life? This exclusive adventure gives Girl Scouts a firsthand look at the heroes and resources that help make every experience possible. During this action-packed tour, Girl Scouts will meet staff members, explore key areas of the building, and visit the Answer Center, one of GSEM’s most trusted resources. They’ll even have the opportunity to share what they love most about Girl Scouting and help inspire future tours. Join us for a Girl Scout Service Center Tour! Each tour lasts approximately one hour and is led by a member of the council’s leadership team. Tours are offered year-round, with additional opportunities offered during the summer.

Tour Highlights: • A behind-the-scenes look at council operations • A visit to the Emerson Resource Center • Time to explore and shop at the Girl Scout Shop • A stop at the Answer Center to meet a team member and see their work in action • A look at the Build-A-Bear Workshop

Girl Scout Round Up The ultimate kickoff to a new Girl Scout year! It’s a day packed with adventure, discovery, and Girl Scout spirit. Girl Scout Cookie Run Ready to test that super speed? Join the sweetest race in St. Louis! Whether participating in-person or virtually, participants can choose from awesome swag, earn a commemorative medal, and plenty of bragging rights. Costumes and cookie-themed spirit are encouraged! World of Wonder Celebrate the incredible diversity of our world through performances, interactive exhibits, cultural experiences, and hands-on activities. This exciting event brings communities together while showcasing the power of unity and understanding. April Showers When communities need help, Girl Scouts answer the call. During April Showers, Girl Scouts collect personal care items for individuals and families in need, proving that kindness is one of the greatest superpowers of all.

Girl Scouts, Assemble! Kick off the Girl Scout year with one of GSEM’s biggest adventures! Whether attending as a troop, with friends or family, or participating independently, Girl Scout Round Up is the chance to join fellow Girl Scouts for a day filled with discovery, fun and friendship. Want even more adventure? Stay for the weekend and experience camp life for an additional $5 per person. Overnight camp is reserved for Girl Scout members only. Members will be able to choose the camping option during registration. After registering, a follow-up email will be sent out with details and members can then choose a unit.

Registration closes Friday, Sept. 18!

For this annual event, camp will be set up with over 50 booths that participants can visit, or they can spend the day exploring camp activities like our Edward Jones Adventure Center. When registering for the event, participants will need to choose either a bus time to ride over to camp on event day or choose to camp over the weekend. Buses for day-only participants depart from Troy Ninth Grade Center at either 9:15 am or 10 am. Please note that due to bus capacities, any belongings a participant brings onto the bus will need to fit in their seat with them. Busses will be running all day in a shuttle system to and from camp after the initial departure times.

Activities will be divided into two areas at camp, one for our younger Girl Scouts and one for our older Girl Scouts.

The Sweetest Superhero Challenge in St. Louis! Lace up those running shoes, it’s time to show how Trefoil Tough Girl Scouts are at the Girl Scout Cookie Run! Join us for our annual race as we highlight the classic Trefoil Cookie while celebrating the iconic Rosie the Riveter. All swag will celebrate this beloved cookie, and we encourage participants to dress with the Rosie the Riveter, female empowerment theme in mind! Prizes will be given to the most spirited. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in-person or complete their run/walk virtually. Ready. Set. Register today!

Whether participants want to run on the treadmill, jog around the neighborhood or walk a local trail, our virtual event is a great option to participate in our annual event. Grab the family and friends for a 5K or 1-mile run/walk anytime from Nov. 20-29. To receive the race packet before Nov. 20, participants must register for the virtual option by Nov. 5. If participants register after that date, packets may arrive after Nov. 20. Shipping is included in the registration fee.

New This Year! Celebrate the Trefoil Cookie at a whole new level by purchasing an $8 VIP ticket to a Trefoil Tasting! At the tasting, ticket holders will be able to try a Trefoil Cookie dipped in a variety of toppings— Nutella, marshmallow fluff, strawberry fruit spread, and more! APRIL SHOWERS

Creating a Storm of Kindness

Every superhero has a mission. This one helps thousands of families throughout eastern Missouri.

Since 1998, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri have collected more than a million personal care items each year through April Showers, the council’s largest community service initiative. Girl Scouts will place self-adhesive notes on doors throughout neighborhoods, encouraging community members to set out donated items the following weekend for pick up. They can also support the effort through online registries, making it easier than ever for heroes across the region to participate. During the first weekend, Girl Scouts will also be stationed outside of local stores to encourage customers to purchase additional items for donation. On collection weekend, Girl Scouts become community champions by going door-to-door and gathering, sorting, counting and preparing donations for distribution.

All registered Girl Scouts are expected to participate in April Showers through door-to-door distribution or donation collection. Showering the Community is an additional opportunity for Girl Scouts to make an even bigger impact on our community. District and Neighborhood events scheduled for either weekend of April Showers should plan to incorporate April Showers as part of their event plans. Troops camping are expected to participate on the alternate weekend.

All participants will be able to request a free event patch through their April Showers Participation Form. Patches will be ordered after the campaign concludes and will then be mailed out to troop leaders. We encourage families and friends to participate, too! April Showers is a great community service project for the whole family. Together, we can help empower Girl Scouts to team up and make the world a better place. Members should be on the lookout for more information from their Neighborhood April Showers Coordinator after the first of the year.

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS All Heroes Deserve a Chance to Shine Every Girl Scout deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths, take on exciting adventures, and become the hero they were meant to be. That’s why Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri helps remove obstacles by offering scholarships for membership, programs, uniforms, and camp experiences. Every family’s story is different, and all requests are treated with care, respect, and complete confidentially. No matter the challenge, we’re here to help every Girl Scout unlock their potential and step confidently into their next adventure. We offer scholarships to cover the following expenses: • Annual Membership Registration: Applicants will need to check the Scholarship box on the girl or adult paper registration or when registering online. • Camps and Programs: Applicants will need to register for the program through MyGS and select the Scholarship option on the payment screen. For programs $12- $60, there is no additional steps needed. For programs over $60, please register for the program, pay the deposit and then complete the Activity Scholarship Application . • Uniforms: Apply for uniform aid with the Uniform Fund Application . • Adult Education: Applicants will need to complete the Adult Education Course Scholarship Application . Applications must be completed entirely and signed by a parent or guardian to be considered.
