Lifeguard In-Service Training

Course Description: This course is required annually for volunteers and staff certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding who wish to lifeguard at GSEM camps. The course consists of a quiz that will require knowledge of the policies, procedures, and emergency action plans for council-owned pools and lakes. See prerequisites to prepare for the course.

Prerequisites: Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification and thoroughly reading the GSEM Waterfront and Pool Manuals.

Looker Onboarding for Service Unit Volunteers (GSUSA)

Course Description: Looker is the business intelligence platform used by councils nationwide. With it, approved service team volunteers can explore, visualize, and analyze data from their districts or neighborhoods. In this course, volunteers learn what Looker is, how to navigate the platform, and how to interact with Looker reports. Service team volunteers are expected to complete this onboarding course when they first receive access to Looker.

Missouri Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporter Training Mandatory for All Active Volunteers

Course Description: Girl Scout volunteers and staff are considered mandated reporters in Missouri. This 2.5-hour course, provided by Missouri Network Against Child Abuse, explores how adults can identify and report child abuse and neglect to the Children’s Division of the Missouri Department of Social Services. A no-cost registration with Missouri Network Against Child Abuse is required to access their course. Upload the completion certificate provided by Missouri Network Against Child Abuse to this course in gsLearn to receive credit for completion.

This course is mandatory for all active GSEM volunteers.
