GSEM Silver Award Project Catalog

The Snack Table

Project Details: As an approach to provide all students with snacks who may not otherwise have any, Troop 9175 started a Snack Table at their school to earn their Girl Scout Silver Award. Their project encourages students to place unopened and prepackaged snacks on the table for those who want or need extra food. The Snack Table provides a way to not only discourage waste, but allows school members to assist their peers who need something to eat. Students who aren’t able to provide food for themselves are able to go to the table and grab something to fuel them through the day. The Cadettes spoke with their school administration who have agreed to continue having a snack table during lunch.

Target Audience: Students who attend Kirksville R-3.

Sustainability: The schools within the district will continue utilizing a Snack Table for students in need of food.
