Fall 2025 Lead & Learn

First Aid, CPR and Mental Wellness

Emergencies require prompt action and quick judgment to ensure the safety of our members. Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri offers first aid, CPR and mental wellness courses through the American Red Cross, the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, and GSUSA. At least one qualified general first aider with an Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR/AED certification must accompany a troop when they participate in certain activities. Consult Safety Activity Checkpoints to see if a first aider is required for a troop activity.

Adult volunteers may complete this course through the American Red Cross or another council-approved agency, such as the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI).

Some courses offered by ARC, AHA, or ASHI have separate First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications. All three are required to be a Girl Scout general first aider, and there must be an in-person skills assessment component (no online-only courses).
