December 2025 Virtual Gold Award Open Discussion
Offered to: Senior | Ambassador | Adult Grades 9-12
This program is an open discussion for Girl Scouts pursuing the Gold Award, the highest leadership award a Senior or Ambassador Girl Scout can earn. We will answer questions about requirements, ideas, proposals and components. We can also assist Girl Scouts creating their account on the GoGold website. Gold Award training is not a prerequisite but can be beneficial before attending the open discussion.

Newspaper cartoons, comic books, graphic novels...comic art is a broad, exciting, and growing field. Comics are sometimes described as “sequential art,” though some are only one panel. We will learn all about comics and how to create them in this fun and creative program! This virtual program includes a box mailed to the participant’s house will all the supplies needed and the badge earned.

Gold Award Training— Go For Gold Dec. 6, 9:30 am-3:30 pm
Offered to: Senior | Ambassador Grades 9-12
This training workshop is for Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors who are interested in beginning their Gold Award. All Girl Scouts are eligible to earn this prestigious award, regardless if they earned the Silver Award as a Cadette. Please note that this is an expanded version of the required Gold Award training, therefore, Girl Scouts who attends this workshop will not have to attend additional training. Participants will learn the seven steps necessary to complete their Gold Award project, hear from Gold Award alum, meet members of the Gold Award committee, and begin working in the GoGold website. Since this workshop is provided for Seniors and Ambassador Girl Scouts, we welcome interested caregivers and troop leaders to attend a shorter Gold Award training session provided throughout the year.

Costume Design with the Repertory Theater Dec. 6, 4-8 pm
Offered to: Cadette | Senior | Ambassador Grades 6-12
Calling all theater kids! Anyone interested in how costumes are created for a professional theater production should join us for an amazing evening. Girl Scouts will attend The Repertory Theater of St. Louis’ production of Emma followed by a behind-the-scenes workshop. We will delve into the world of costume design and how that translates for the theatre, how costume designers work to create original clothing pieces for the stage, and a practical application of creating these items. Dinner is included.

Visit UMSL’s eSports Arena to learn how to play Rocket League, participate in friendly competition with other Girl Scouts, and hear about how UMSL students participate in the Triton eSports team.

This program is for Girl Scout Cadettes who are interested in pursuing the Girl Scout Silver Award. This training will allow Girl Scouts and their adults to learn the steps necessary to complete their Silver Award project and how to submit their completion form.
