Girl Scout Gold Award

How Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors Make the World a Better Place The Gold Award is earned by Girl Scouts in grades 9-12 who demonstrate extraordinary leadership in developing sustainable solutions to local, national and global issues. Girl Scouts pursuing the Gold Award are required to attend one training session with GSEM, either virtually or in-person. For a complete list of trainings offered, turn to the Older Girl Program Listing section which begins on pg. 43. Girl Scouts earning their Gold Award are supported by the Gold Award Committee. These volunteers review both the proposal and final report as well as facilitate the initial candidate training and offer mentorship along the way. Final reports must be approved by the committee by March 1 in order to be recognized at that year’s Reflections Ceremony. Final reports approved after this date will be recognized at the following year’s ceremony. Gold Award Girl Scouts will be gifted a Lifetime Membership from GSEM upon graduation. They will also be eligible for scholarships offered by both GSUSA and GSEM.

The seven steps to earn the Gold Award:

1. Complete one of the prerequisites 2. Attend Gold Award training with GSEM 3. Build a team and identify an issue 4. Get paired with a Committee Mentor and write proposal 5. Present proposal for committee approval 6. Take action 7. Submit Final Report for committee approval
