Junior Numbers in Nature May 7, 6-8 pm

Step outside and see how math is all around us in the natural world! In this program Juniors will earn their Numbers in Nature Badge by exploring how numbers help scientists make observations and discoveries. Girl Scouts will learn to tell time using the sun, estimate the age of trees, and will use patterns to help predict the weather—all while practicing real scientific observation skills. Get ready to think like a scientist and explore the outdoors in a whole new way!

Flowers for Mother’s Day May 8, 6-8 pm

Grades 4-5
What better way to celebrate the amazing mothers and mother figures in our lives than to learn how to make a flower arrangement AND bring it home! Partnering with Anique Design Flowers, Girl Scouts will learn about and appreciate flowers while earning their Flowers Badge and creating a special arrangement for Mother’s Day. Adults may sign up for this program if they would like to make the arrangement with their Girl Scout, or Girl Scouts can attend on their own.

Join us at the Butterfly House to learn how to become a citizen scientist! During this Journey, Daisies will learn how scientists use the scientific method to investigate the world and make discoveries. Daisies will complete hands-on activities to learn how to make observations and collect data.

Like a national treasure hunt, geocaching is searching for caches that others have hidden outside. Juniors will learn how to use a GPS to locate coordinates and stay stealthy as they search and find geocaches.

Ready, set, craft! When Girl Scouts craft, they make something with care, skill, and imagination. Juniors can craft with a computer and a 3D printer. They can craft with recycled materials to help the planet. Makers turn ideas into object. They also tinker or make changes to improve them. Join us to explore their creative skills and see what they will make!

Junior Digital Photographer May 16, 10 am-12:30 pm

Grades 4-5
Girl Scouts will learn tips and tricks to capturing creative photos through a photo exploration workshop led by Photographer Cathy Lander-Goldberg, LCSW. Participants will take photos at Forest Park and bring home two digital self-portraits that capture a positive internal quality and an image of themselves they imagine for their future. Cameras will be provided to take photos. Juniors will also receive a copy of Cathy’s Photo Explorations Workbook.
