Professional Development and Socio-Emotional Programs

Bank of America Neighborhood Builders ® In 2023, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri received the Bank of America’s Neighborhood Builders ® award for our work advancing economic mobility in St. Louis. Being part of the Neighborhood Builders ® program will provide multi-year grant funding and extensive leadership training for leadership for our organization. Bank of America’s funding will ensure that programs and services addressing development for future female leaders and will continue to expand. The Neighborhood Builders ® program is one of the largest philanthropic investments into nonprofit leadership development in the nation. Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri was also awarded a $200,000 grant over two years. This new grant will allow Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri to develop outreach and membership recruitment strategies that target St. Louis’ emerging black and brown communities, create curriculum that will specifically provide girls the opportunity to develop holistically, improve volunteer support and recognition, and more. “This opportunity will help us expand our program to provide a wider margin of young women with new experiences and lessons critical to developing essential life skills as the future leaders of Missouri and the world,” said Dr. Natissia Small, CEO, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri. “Most importantly it further demonstrates our intentional efforts to prepare and promote women leaders as valued members of the workforce.” During the 2023-2024 Girl Scout year, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri offered expanded life skills programming, focusing on providing holistic support through professional development and socio-emotional well-being of our Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors. The new programs included College Knowledge, Professional Prep Day and ACT Prep. By partnering with educational institutions and expert organizations in our community, our expanded program offerings will allow our middle and high school Girl Scouts to dream big and then put those plans into action to achieve their goals. We are committed to supporting our Girl Scouts from their childhood all the way through adulthood, making sure our Girl Scouts and the adults who support them, receive the relevant and important information and resources they need for a lifetime of success and happiness.
