WELCOME TO TJIE 2021 CAMP ADVENTURE GUiDE Our eastern Missouri Girl Scouts faced some unbelievable challenges in 2020 and persevered with courage, confidence and character. Throughout our history, Girl Scouts have met moments of crisis with resilience and innovation- 2020 was no different! As we look to the future, we realize now more than ever the world needs Girl Scouts. Attending camp in 2021 will be a big decision for our Girl Scout families, and you can rest assured that the health and well-being of our girls, volunteers and staff are our top concern. Our 2021 camp safety protocols are based on the most recent guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), as well as state and local health authorities. We continually update our Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri COVID-19 Response Guidelines based on state and local restrictions and advisories for COVID-19 mitigation. To review our current guidelines, please visit girlscoutsem.org/covid19. For more than 100 years girls have explored and strengthened their leadership skills and commitment to environmental stewardship by attending Girl Scout Camp. When a girl embraces camp, she meets new friends and peers on even ground. As she sits around the campfire, paddles a canoe, shoots a bow and arrow or scales the climbing wall for the first time, something in her begins to change- she gains a sense of pride by facing her fears, she grows as a person by learning new skills, and becomes happier by making new friends to share these moments with. She will come home with greater self-confidence and a new light in her eyes. Trained, caring staff respect and challenge girls so they gain a better understanding of themselves and their leadership potential. Our staff are outdoor and girl experts who carefully develop and design every camp program with girls' interests in mind, so they can grow their passions and take healthy risks in a safe and supportive environment. Whether your Girl Scout is a first-time camper or a seasoned pro, activities and experiences are designed to support girls' development of healthy habits and crucial 21st-century skills in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Thank you for your collective and continued investment in Girl Scout camp! Though 2021 may look a little different, we will never falter from our focus of providing girls the best leadership development experience possible.

Registration opens on January 13, 2021. We can't wait to see you around the campfire this summer!

Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri's American Camp Association (ACA) accreditation shows safety is our top priority. Parents and guardians can rest easy knowing their Girl Scout is in good hands while she attends our camps. We encourage families to utilize ACXs comprehensive summer camp resources at acacamps.org.

LEADERSlliP CAMPS Resident Camp leadership programs are designed for campers ages 15 and up. At the start of these programs, knowledgeable staff are there to guide the girls through their journey of learning, challenge and growth. Toward the end of the program, camp staff move into supporting roles as campers step into leadership roles, put their skills to practice, and choose their path (at camp and in life).

The campers in the leadership programs help staff set the tone in the camp environment and often serve as role models for the younger campers, playing a major role in the mentoring magic that happens at camp. Whether they are leading a hike, teaching horsemanship skills, or building a campfire, the Leadership Experience and Practice (LE.AP.) campers are developing skills that will last them a lifetime and exemplifying what being a Girl Scout is all about.

If you were previously planning on completing Counselor in Training (CIT) or Wrangler in Training (WIT) then this new and improved program is for you! This redesigned program will broaden your leadership experience and training by offering an equestrian component much like the WIT program and a counselor component that the CIT program had in the past
