Welcome to the Spring 2025 Lead & Learn!

The dark days of winter are often a time to slow down and think about life’s bigger questions, and it’s no different for us in Adult Education. This winter, we pondered the question, “Why do Girl Scout volunteers take our courses?” The following are a few of the reasons we thought of. Maybe one or two of them resonate with you. I want to bring more adventure and interesting activities to my troop . This is why volunteers do what they do—to help give Girl Scouts fun and empowering experiences. Becoming trained to do such things as take a troop camping, lead an archery activity, or supervise canoeing is the first step to providing new and exciting opportunities for your troop. Help! I don’t know where to start! We’ve all been there—new to a job or role and don’t know where to begin. This is why our council offers courses that explain exactly what a volunteer needs to know to succeed in their role, whether that be as a troop leader, cookie manager, or service team member. My volunteer role requires it. It’s hard to find a job these days that doesn’t require training of some kind, and GSEM is no different. Training requirements at

our council help keep Girl Scouts safe and ensure a volunteer can successfully manage the responsibilities of their role. I want to develop my skills to be a better volunteer. Adult volunteers are often so busy supporting girls they forget that they’re Girl Scouts too! Our council offers courses to expand your knowledge base and skill set so you can not just succeed, but excel. We want you to feel empowered to reach your goals and dig deeper into Girl Scout topics that interest you. No matter why you show up to our in-person classes or pop into gsLearn for an online course, we’re grateful that you do. Your willingness to learn as a volunteer shows your dedication to Girl Scouting. We hope you find what you’re looking for in the Spring 2025 Lead & Learn course catalog, and if you don’t, please let us know. Your feedback is how we learn and grow as your Adult Education team.

See you in class!
