Think Like an Engineer Journey at Mark Twain Lake Sept. 9 Start: 9:30 am End: 3 pm

Offered to: Cadette | Senior | Ambassador Grades 6-12 In this Journey, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors will learn how engineers use design thinking to solve problems by completing three design thinking activities. Girls will design and build prototypes of a holder for a six-pack of soda that isn’t harmful to animals, a kinetic sculpture and an assistive device to help the elderly. Girls will hear from the Army Corps of Engineers and learn about the benefits of the Clarence Cannon Dam and Mark Twain Lake, such as flood risk management, hydropower electricity, water supply, recreation, environmental stewardship and navigation. A Senior or Ambassador Journey is a prerequisite to earning the Girl Scout Gold Award. Girl Scouts will complete their Think Like an Engineer Journey. Location: Mark Twain Lake M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center; 21629 Hwy J, Perry 63462 Offered to: Brownie Grades 2-3 Brownies will find out how to treat outdoor spaces with kindness and teach others how they can, too during Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend at Mark Twain State Park. Brownies will observe outdoor spaces, learn how to build a safe campfire and practice being kind to our wild animal friends. Girl Scout Brownies will earn their Eco Friend Badge. Location: Mark Twain Lake State Park, 3752 Shrine Rd., Flordia 65283 Offered to: Offered to: Daisy | Brownie | Junior | Cadette | Senior | Ambassador Grades K-12 Do you want to earn the "Girl Scouts Love State Parks" patch but don't know where to start? Sign up for this patch program to earn the patch on your own or with your troop! You will receive: a list of state parks in GSEM's jurisdiction and the activities they will offer on this weekend for Girl Scouts, a sample itinerary for ideas of what to do at some parks, and a patch mailed directly to your home. To receive the patch in the mail, you will be asked to complete a simple survey telling us which park you went to and what you did. If you are looking for a council-led program at a state park on this weekend, please check out the other listings in the Inspire Discovery publication. Location: Varies Grades 4-5 This course is for Girl Scout Juniors who are interested in pursuing the Girl Scout Bronze Award. Parents, caregivers and troop leaders are welcome to attend as well. This training will allow girls to learn the steps necessary to complete their Bronze Award project and how to submit their proposal. Location: Berges Family Girl Scout Program Center, 2300 Ball Dr., St. Louis 63146 Grades 6-8 This course is for Girl Scout Cadettes who are interested in pursuing the Girl Scout Silver Award. Parents, caregivers and troop leaders are welcome to attend as well. This training will allow girls to learn the steps necessary to complete their Silver Award project and how to submit their proposal.
