EXCITING TROOP EXPERIENCES

Baetje Goat Farms

interactive stations at the National Great Rivers Museum to gain a deeper understanding of the history of the river and how humans have both influenced and adapted to its untamed spirit. Also available is an optional tour on top of the Melvin Price Locks and Dam more than 80 feet above the waters of the Mighty Mississippi, completing the adventure of discovery.

Discover a world of goats and cheese and how the two work together to produce some of the state’s best tasting dairy! Girls will be able to feed the goats, tour the creamery and assist the cheese makers in making their own special cheese.

The Magic House at MADE

Urban Harvest

Girl Scouts can explore more than 7,000 square-feet of interactive space at The Magic House, MADE for Kids, the Museum’s new satellite location in the City of St. Louis. Featuring a Makers Workshop, Artists Studio, Designers Lab and Entrepreneurs Marketplace, Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to create a design for a 3D printer, paint on a digital easel, operate simple robotics, learn to silkscreen and more!

Through a brief overview, girls will learn about Urban Harvest STL and the history of the FOOD ROOF Farm, followed by a farm walk with in-depth explanations of each component of the farm, from hydroponic towers to the agricultural green roof system, to chickens, to an edible wall.

Tour Marcoot Jersey Creamery for a special hands-on experience in farmstead and artisan cheeses or custard-style ice cream! At Marcoot, girls will view a special “field to fork” video about the family farm and get a chance to make and sample various delicious cheeses. Girls can earn a badge and taste the Girl Scout-themed ice cream.

Melvin Price Locks and Dam

Girl Scouts will use engineering concepts to explore the feats, history and changing perceptions of the Mississippi River through engaging activities. Girls will rotate through different
