New Leader Prep Series As a Girl Scout volunteer, you’re shaping some awesome G.I.R.L.s (Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, Leaders) TM . Pretty big feat, right? No fear—we are here for you every step of the way! Whether you were a Girl Scout growing up or this is your first introduction to our organization, the Leader Prep Series will help you begin your journey as a new troop leader. Thank you for volunteering, we couldn’t do it without you! In our efforts to make these learning opportunities as convenient as possible for new troop volunteers, each course in the New Leader Prep Series is offered online at girlscoutsem.org/training . The New Leader Prep Series is comprised of the following three courses. At least one leader or assistant leader in your troop must complete the New Leader Prep Series within 90 days of beginning their/your role. Step 1 NEW TROOP LEADER TRAINING New Troop Leader Training is designed to help troop volunteers become comfortable in their new role. This training provides an overview of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, the basic structure of a troop meeting and examples of how proactive planning and useful resources will ensure troop success. Participants also discover Girl Scout Journeys and how they can incorporate earning badges and Girl Scout ceremonies and traditions into their meetings.

TROOP MONEY MANAGEMENT

Want to know more about managing troop finances? This course offers all the information and tips you need for opening a troop bank account, building your troop treasury and completing the Troop Year-End Report.

PROGRAM LEVEL TRAINING

New and experienced leaders alike will benefit from the information and resources provided in these comprehensive trainings. The content helps troop leaders guide Girl Scouts through developmental stages and provide them the best Girl Scout Leadership Experience possible, based on age-appropriate interests, abilities and needs.
