Offered to: Grades 2-5 Citizen scientists make observations, collect data and work with scientists to receive feedback on research. Girls have the opportunity to practice their skills by exploring the Howell Prairie to search for wildlife, identify plants, catch insects and learn how to use a field guide. Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors earn their Think Like a Citizen Scientist Journey Award and know how to Take Action when they leave. Location: Weldon Spring Site, 7295 MO-94, St. Charles 63304 Grades 2-3 Girl Scout Brownies find out how engineers use design thinking to solve problems and participate in several design challenges. Brownies will use the engineering design process to create a series of mechanical engineering challenges including a leap bot, a fling flyer and a race car! To complete their day, Brownies will also visit the Boeing Prologue Room to learn how airplanes work and how they've evolved over the years by working with professional engineers. Girl Scout Brownies earn their Leap Bot Design Challenge, Fling Flyer Design Challenge and Race Car Design Challenge Badges. Brownies also earn their Think Like an Engineer Journey Award and know how to Take Action when they leave. Offered to: Grades 6-12 The sky isn't the limit in Girl Scouts! Older girls will get an opportunity to learn about aviation by meeting with aviation professionals including pilots and engineers, experiencing a virtual flight simulation and even getting hands-on experience in airline maintenance.
