Silver Award

Version A, white background SHINING SILVER Krystina, Kendall, K ia, Cadence and Rhegan from Troop 3708 decided they wanted to have an impact on the environment when choosing their Girl Scout Silver Award project. To earn the Silver Award, the most prestigious community service award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn, these girls took action while finishing up middle school. Through researching the role honeybees play in our ecosystem, they learned honeybees are facing colony collapse in part to human influence. Since the decline of pollinators leads to the decline in healthy foods, these G.I.R.L. s were determined to make a difference. They started by planting a bee-friendly garden in Innsbrook, Missouri. Then, the young change-makers hosted a bee movie and craft night for a local preschool. The girls presented a slideshow on honeybees and their decline, coordinated bee-themed craft tables and showed an animated bee movie for the kids. Thanks to the hard work of these bold leaders, their community is prepared to help these essential insects execute their jobs.

T he Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout Cadette can achieve! A Girl Scout team will plan and complete their Silver Award Take Action Project, and will develop more confidence, meet new people, and have the kind of fun that happens when girls work with other Girl Scouts to make a difference in the world. Going for the Girl Scout Silver Award gives girls the chance to show they are a leader who is organized, determined and dedicated to improving their community.
