Bronze Award

Version B, transparent background Girl Scout Juniors make a difference in the Girl Scout or local community when they work together to achieve the highest honor a Junior can earn— the Girl Scout Bronze Award. Girls will have fun along the way as they bring their own creativity to all they do and discover. Girls earn the Girl Scout Bronze Award by completing a Journey, and then creating a Take Action project based on their observations of a local issue. As the girls pursue their project, they put the Girl Scout Promise and Law into action. They also develop an understanding of sustainability and gain an understanding of the wider world by discussing how others may experience the same problem their project helped resolve.

Version A, white background BOLDLY BRONZE Troop 811 earned their Girl Scout Bronze Award by doing their part to reduce the amount of plastic in landfills, while also creating a safe space for their peers. Girl Scout Juniors Lilly, Eva, Lauren, Olivia, Taylor, Meredith, Addison and Katie learned they could reuse plastic and make it into a buddy bench. These innovative Girl Scouts organized a collection drive at their elementary school where they collected 400 pounds of plastic caps. After sorting all the caps into their respective recyclable number and then cleaning the acceptable lids, they loaded the plastic into their troop leader, Pam Adams' truck. Adams drove the caps to Green Tree Plastics LLC in Evansville, Indiana where she exchanged the caps for a bench. These G.I.R.L. s then gifted the buddy bench to Blades Elementary School where it has been installed by the playground. The buddy bench is a special space for students to sit and let their peers know they are wanting to find a friend to play.
