Tips for Nominating/Recommending Candidates for Council-Level Recognitions • Remember that candidates are nominated for council-level awards based on their achievements from the previous membership year; for example, to recognize a candidate’s accomplishments from the 2023 membership year (Oct. 2022 – Sept. 2023), that candidate would need to be nominated by the cut-off date for the spring Adult Recognition Ceremony in 2024 • Consult the Past Awardee Database, also found in the Adult Recognition section of our website, to see if the candidate you wish to nominate has received a particular award before; an individual or group may only receive any given council-level award once (except for Special Service Award) • Each recommendation form must offer a distinct perspective on the candidate’s suitability for the award—do not copy text from the candidate’s other recommendation forms • Review council’s strategic plan or impact report to determine if a candidate contributed to the council’s mission-delivery goals or overall goals • Only one candidate may be nominated per submission on the online nomination form • No handwritten nominations or recommendations will be accepted. Please type all forms. Plan to submit recommendation forms in a digital format (not scanned, copied, or photographed), even if they are emailed directly to Adult Education. • District and Neighborhood Managers should check that the candidates for district- and neighborhood-level awards have a current Girl Scout membership and/or role before completing the District or Neighborhood Pin Approval Forms.
