Offered to: Grades 2-3 Brownies will explore how people have moved from place to place throughout history at the National Museum of Transportation. After exploring the history of vehicles, girls will learn how automotive designers come up with ideas for new vehicles. Then they will take the wheel and design, sketch and sculpt their own vehicle! Girl Scout Brownies will earn their Automotive 1: Design Badge. Location: National Museum of Transportation, 2933 Barrett Station Rd., St. Louis 63122 Grades 11-12 How often have you seen something that really needed to be changed and wondered “why isn’t someone doing something about that?” This Journey gives you a way to be that someone—an advocate with the power to start the first flutter of real and lasting change. While creating your own butterfly effect, you’ll learn skills such as networking, planning and speaking up for what you believe. An Ambassador Journey is a prerequisite to the Girl Scout Gold Award. After this program, girls will need to implement a Take Action Project to complete the Your World, Your Journey. Location: Berges Family Girl Scout Program Center, 2300 Ball Dr., St. Louis 63146 Grades 9-12 In this Journey, Seniors and Ambassadors will learn how engineers use design thinking to solve problems by completing three design thinking activities. Girls will design and build prototypes of a holder for a six-pack of soda that isn’t harmful to animals, a kinetic sculpture and an assistive device to help the elderly. A Senior or Ambassador Journey is a prerequisite to the Girl Scout Gold Award. After this program, girls will need to implement a Take Action Project to complete the Think Like an Engineer Journey. Get ready to turn those visions into reality as you meet with artists, learn about the world of textile arts, and make amazing projects with your own two hands. Girl Scout Seniors will earn their Textile Artist Badge and Girl Scout Ambassadors will receive a Girl Scout Shop voucher.
