Offered to: Grades K-8 Learn the sport of tennis—a fun activity girls can play for a lifetime with their friends and family. First-time and experienced players are welcome. Girls will participate in an active clinic, complete with drills and rallies. Vetta Racquet Sports staff will group girls according to age and ability. Girl Scout Brownies complete Steps 1-4 of their Fair Play Badge, Girl Scout Juniors complete Step 4 of their Practice with a Purpose Badge and Girl Scout Cadettes complete Steps 2-3 of their Good Sportsmanship Badge. Grades 4-5 Enjoy a unique opportunity to step back in time. Dress in 1820 attire, choose a name from that time period and take on your new persona while enjoying an interactive tour of Historic Sappington House. Girls will learn how to make butter; try out different inside and outdoor toys and games; and create, design and dress period clothes for paper dolls. In small group collaboration, girls will apply what they have learned to make and share a skit/story with their paper dolls, exploring daily life, activities, feelings and envisioning what life was like in the 1820’s. Girl Scout Juniors earn their Playing the Past Badge. Location: Historic Sappington House, 1015 S. Sappington Rd., St. Louis 63126 Grades 9-12 This training is designed specifically for older girls who want to take on new leadership roles within Girl Scouts. Girls learn how to work with younger girls and get tips on implementing fun and exciting programs. Girls will receive a list of aide/volunteer opportunities to help complete the final steps of the VIT training and earn their pin. After this training, girls can serve as a volunteer at Council programs or at younger girl troop meetings in their area to meet requirements. This beloved American holiday classic comes to life as a captivating 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of a diverse company of characters, the story of George Bailey unfolds as he discovers the true spirit of the holidays and learns how one life can impact a whole community. Stay after the show for a meet-and-greet with the actors. Girl Scout Brownies complete Step 2 of their Dancer Badge and Girl Scout Juniors complete Step 3 of their Musician Badge. Grades 2-3 Want to give back to the community, but not sure how or where? Join Girl Scouts and get the creative wheels moving on how to make a difference, listen to a professional from a local non-profit and make wonderful items that will be given back to the organization to help families in need.
