Offered to: Grades K-1 During this new STEM program, Daisies get an introduction to coding and learn how computer scientists use coding for good. Girls learn about algorithms and sequencing—and get the opportunity to try out some coding on their own ! Girl Scout Daisies earn their Coding for Good Badge. Location: Berges Family Girl Scout Program Center, 2300 Ball Dr., St. Louis 63146 Grades K-1 Order up! Spend the morning in the Daisy Diner! Girls learn how to choose healthy snacks on a budget by taking turns being the customer and server. Each girl practices table etiquette, learns to pay with dollars and/ or coins and how to make change. Girls not seated in the Daisy Diner or serving will be making the ordered snacks. Everyone takes home their very own apron. Girl Scout Daisies complete Step 2 of the Money Counts Badge. Location: Berges Family Girl Scout Program Center, 2300 Ball Dr., St. Louis 63146 Grades 6-8 Cadettes will learn about nutrition, food science and how eating well can help you both inside and out. Girls will hear how new foods are developed and tested from Mighty Cricket, a local company using protein powder made from crickets to create nutritious (and delicious!) foods. Grades 2-3 Girls experience the Safety House, learning how to extinguish various types of kitchen fires, plan for weather situations, understand the proper way to escape from a room during a fire and discover the tools used by firefighters. To help strengthen the skills she learns, each girl receives a family take-home kit which includes a mini booklet so her family can create their own emergency plan, and a DIY First Aid kit. Girl Scout Brownies earn their Safety Pin and First Aid Badge. Location: West County Safety House, 13790 Manchester Rd., Manchester 63021 Grades 4-12 This exciting program will blend girls’ love of the theater with knowledge of the industry so they can discover what it takes to put on a great show! Girls understand that a theater group needs actors, a script and an audience, but do they know about the full crew working behind the scenes and off stage? Don’t miss out on this special opportunity to become a part of the house staff for an upcoming Metro Theater Company production!
