Girl Scout Silver Award
How Girl Scout Cadettes Make the World a Better Place
What are things in our community that don’t seem to work right or is causing concerns? What can Girl Scouts do to improve the issues? Our Cadette Girl Scouts address these problems through earning the Silver Award. Training is provided by Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri for leaders, caregivers and Cadettes who want to learn more about the Silver Award. For a complete list of trainings offered, turn to the Older Girl Program Listing section which begins on pg. 43. Projects must be submitted online by March 1 in order to be recognized at the special award celebration in June each year. Projects received after this date will be recognized at the following year’s celebration. Once Cadettes complete their Silver Award project, they should receive approval from their troop leader or adult volunteer. Then the Cadette can submit the completion form online to Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri.
The seven steps to earn the Silver Award:
1. Complete one of the prerequisites 2. Build a team 3. Explore the community
4. Identify an issue and root cause 5. Make a plan (Write your proposal) 6. Take action 7. Write the Final Report and submit Completion Report online
The rubric and all resources can be found at girlscoutsem.org/silveraward .
