Troop 992 Girl Scout Ambassadors

JoElle Rogers Girl Scout Brownie

Girl Scouts Ma’Lai Ellis and Shelby Winston had the opportunity to welcome home veterans who participated in Greater St. Louis Honor Flight’s 107th mission. Ma’lai and Shelby led the parade honoring the veterans as they came through Lambert International Airport. “My favorite part of the event was leading the parade with the banner and being able to personally meet and hear some of the stories they shared with us as we welcomed them back home,” said Ma’lai. Greater St. Louis Honor Flight is a non-profit organization who transports senior veterans to Washington , D.C. to experience the memorials built in their honor.

JoElle Rogers, a Girl Scout Brownie, wrote and published her own book, JoJo’s Split Decision , about a young girl named JoJo and how she is navigating life through changing family dynamics. JoElle was inspired to share her own story so that others going through similar situations can learn how to handle change and find happiness. “My story is about finding the courage to accept change and knowing that love can look different, but it never disappears,” said JoElle. In 2024, JoElle participated in a public book signing at the St. Louis County Library Jamestown Bluff branch. Her book is also available for purchase on Amazon. JoElle is a member of the Community Troop Program, a program that provides Girl Scout staff members as troop leaders for numerous troops in schools, churches and community centers to girls who otherwise would not have the opportunity to be Girl Scouts.
