Girl Scout Gold Award
How Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors Make the World a Better Place
The Gold Award is earned by Girl Scouts in grades 9-12 who demonstrate extraordinary leadership in developing sustainable solutions to local, national and global issues. To get started on a Gold Award project, Girl Scouts must complete two Journeys or if they earned their Silver Award, they only need to complete one Journey. Girl Scouts pursuing the Gold Award are required to attend one training session with GSEM, either virtually or in-person. Girl Scouts earning their Gold Award are supported by the Gold Award Committee. These volunteers review both the proposal and final report as well as facilitate the initial candidate training and offer mentorship along the way. Final Reports must be approved by the committee by March 1 in order to be recognized at that year’s Reflections Ceremony. Final Reports approved after this date will be recognized at the following year’s ceremony. Our Gold Award honorees are celebrated by family, friends, volunteers, staff and special guests at the annual Reflections Ceremony in June each year. Gold Award Girl Scouts will be gifted a Lifetime Membership from GSEM upon graduation. They will also be eligible for scholarships offered by both GSUSA and GSEM.
