Lifeguard: An individual who has completed the American Red Cross lifeguard training or the equivalent and is currently certified as a lifeguard. All lifeguards at Eastern Missouri facilities (Camps Cedarledge, Fiddlecreek and Tuckaho) must complete an annual Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri in-service training

Low, Juliette Gordon: Founder of the Girl Scout Movement in the USA (Oct. 31, 1860 - Jan. 17, 1927)

Member Community (online): The registration website where you purchase or renew Girl Scout membership or update your troop or family information

Membership Coordinator (MC): A staff member dedicated to supporting volunteer membership

Mentor: An experienced volunteer who partners with a new leader to help her accomplish the essential steps of establishing a troop

Neighborhood: Geographic subdivision of an Eastern Missouri district, also known as a service unit

Neighborhood Event: A special program for one or more Girl Scout grade levels in an Eastern Missouri neighborhood, planned and carried out by neighborhood volunteers with Eastern Missouri staff assistance

Neighborhood Service Team: A team of volunteers who provide direct service to troops within a neighborhood

New Leader Prep Series: All new troop leaders must complete the New Leader Prep Series within their first six months of membership to develop the skills needed to guide and mentor girls. These courses are offered online and in person.

Online Troop Catalog: An online listing of troop opportunities for girls and adult volunteers, available to individuals purchasing membership. Contact Council to edit your troop information in the catalog

Outdoor Adventure Course Challenge (OAC): Program at Camp Tuckaho that helps girls build team spirit, improve communication and develop resourcefulness by participating in fun and challenging low- and high-ropes course activities

Parental Permission Form: An authorization signed by parent(s) or guardian(s) to allow a girl to participate in an activity
