influence of alcohol during Girl Scout activities when girls are present. An exception to this policy includes a limited number of Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri-sponsored events for adults where girls may be participating as speakers, greeters, flag ceremony color guard, etc. and whose parents will be notified in advance of event participation that alcohol is being served to adults • A Missouri statute allows individuals with a license to carry a concealed weapon; however, adults possessing a license to carry a concealed weapon may not do so at any Girl Scout activity regardless of location. Girl Scout activities held on private property should advise individuals with a license to carry to place the weapon in a secure, locked location during the activity. Law enforcement officials on duty are exempt, but must comply when off duty Media and Publicity Girl Scout publicity on radio, television, online and in print is initiated and managed through the Eastern Missouri Marketing and Communications department. If you learn of publicity opportunities or are asked by another organization or the media to be a part of a media opportunity, please contact the Marketing and Communications department at 314.592.2397. Girl Scout Logo and Brand Girl Scouts has worked to create a visual brand that conveys the Girl Scout Movement as it exists today. The Girl Scout brand is more than just a logo—it’s a system of typefaces, colors, layout schemes and more. The Girl Scout service mark (logo) may be used on materials like T-shirts, patches and fliers produced at the troop, neighborhood, district or Council levels if the materials are not intended for resale and graphic guidelines are followed. To obtain permission to use the service mark on these materials, or if you have a question about Girl Scout branding, please contact the Marketing and Communications department at 314.592.2397. The logo should not be copied from the Eastern Missouri website as it is a low-resolution image and will not print properly. Any item bearing the name of Girl Scouts, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, etc., that is given away for any program/event for which a fee is paid must be purchased from a GSUSA-licensed vendor. All such purchases should be placed through the Eastern Missouri Girl Scout Shop or from girlscoutshop.com. Electronic Communication Guidelines Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri recognizes the Internet provides unique opportunities to participate in interactive discussions and share information using a wide variety of social media tools. The use of social media also presents risks and carries with it certain responsibilities. To assist volunteers in making responsible decisions about using social media, we have established the following guidelines. In general, the same laws, professional standards and guidelines for interacting with employees, volunteers and members apply online as in other communications and face-to-face situations. When in doubt, the Girl Scout Promise and Law are always a good measure of appropriateness! Ultimately, volunteers are personally responsible for what they post online. Communications Guidelines
