Spring 2024 Lead & Learn

First Aid, CPR and Mental Wellness

Emergencies require prompt action and quick judgment to ensure the safety of our members. Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri offers First Aid, CPR and Mental Wellness courses through the American Red Cross and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

The following items will be available for purchase at all GSEM American Red Cross courses: • Adult or Pediatric First Aid, CPR/AED Ready Reference Skill Cards—$4 • CPR keychain with breathing barrier and gloves —$4.75

At least one qualified general first aider with an Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR/AED certification must accompany a troop when they participate in certain activities. Check Safety Activity Checkpoints to see if a first aider is required for your troop activity. Adult volunteers may take this course through the American Red Cross or another council-approved agency, such as the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI). Some courses offered by ARC, AHA or ASHI have separate certifications for First Aid, CPR, and AED. All three are required to be a Girl Scout general first aider, and there must be an in-person skills assessment component (no online-only courses).
