Spring 2022 Lead & Learn

Aquatic Courses

Each Girl Scouts Small Craft Safety course is now offered in a blended-learning format, consisting of an online portion and an in-person skills session. For your convenience, all required courses for each Small Craft Safety discipline (canoeing, moving water, sailing) are organized into learning paths in gsLearn. Basic Water Rescue is now offered as a stand-alone blended-learning course, in addition to being a prerequisite for all other Small Craft Safety courses. All online learning components/prerequisites must be completed before attending the in-person skills sessions. All online learning may be accessed in gsLearn, along with direct links to register for all in-person skills sessions. Completion of any Girl Scouts Small Craft Safety course acknowledges the successful completion of all requirements for that course. Girl Scouts Small Craft Safety program courses are renewable every three years. Girls ages 16 and up are welcome to participate. If you have a medical condition or disability that may prevent you from participating in all activities, or if you have questions about being able to fully participate in the Small Craft Safety courses, please contact Shaun Lindhoff at slindhoff@girlscoutsem.org or 314.400.4628.

Refer to Safety Activity Checkpoints for waterfront guidelines. For more information on aquatic regulations at Council-owned camps, see the Troop Camping Information Packet (TCIP).
