Spring 2020 Lead & Learn

Welcome,Volunteers!

Dear Girl Scout Volunteers,

Fellow Volunteers,

Happy New Year and welcome to the Spring 2020 Lead & Learn ! As a Girl Scout volunteer, you are truly a change-maker. Through engaging G.I.R.L.s (Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers, Leaders) TM in activities that ignite their passions and inspire them to aim for the stars, your mentorship and support help our girls grow into women who advocate for positive change in the world. We are committed to providing you with quality resources, ideas and assistance. On the following pages, you will find great information on engaging online and in-person adult trainings, details for upcoming volunteer event opportunities, and tips and tools for leading a successful troop meeting or unforgettable troop trip. I know you will also find inspiration in your fellow volunteers, featured on the cover and pgs. 8-11. These volunteers live their lives with courage, confidence and character, and we are proud to showcase their extraordinary efforts to reach G.I.R.L. s across our jurisdiction. Thank you for the time, talent and treasure you invest each day and we hope you also take the opportunity in 2020 to invest in yourselves as leaders.

Spring is a time of looking forward to things to come and a refreshment of nature. During this part of the Girl Scout year, we must keep our focus on the girls and how we, as volunteers, can continue to support them as they complete Journeys and badge work, implement plans for Take Action Projects and take the final steps to earn one of Girl Scouting’s Highest Awards: the Bronze, Silver or Gold Award. Training is an important step in the process of girl support. Take the time to look through the courses offered in this edition of Lead & Learn . Take a certification course in camping or archery so your troop can enjoy these activities. Or, perhaps consider becoming a facilitator so even more troops can have these experiences. Renew your commitment to your girls and to Girl Scouts and share your commitment with others so they might follow in your path. I would like to close by saying thank you all for your support and friendship over the past four years. I have met and worked with some amazing, dedicated volunteers and will cherish the memories. I will continue to work hard as a volunteer to deliver quality programming for girls and essential training opportunities for adults. I hope you will Sister Up and continue along with me as we walk the path of leading a legacy.
