Community Service Girls who engage in community service develop a strong sense of responsibility for others. Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri provides girls with opportunities to serve, to connect with their communities and to reflect on their experience to better understand themselves, area needs and their role in making the world a better place. Through programs like Seasons of Giving, Honor Troops and April Showers or by earning a Girl Scout Bronze, Silver or Gold Award, girls are making a difference each day.

April Showers April Showers, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri’s largest community service program, is important to the Girl Scout program and our community. Girl Scouts, their troop leaders, families and friends help people in need by collecting personal care items.

Seasons of Giving Girl Scouts make an impact through Seasons of Giving, which encourages girls to participate in service activities. Girl Scouts have the option of making gifts, contributing useful items or providing service to agencies of their choosing. Troops can contact their Neighborhood Service Team for more information about service program agencies in their area or view a list of agencies online at girlscoutsem.org/communityservice .

To our April Showers supporters,

In the interest of the health and safety of our Girl Scouts and supporters during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri has made the decision to cancel April Showers, our annual personal care collection drive. This includes the following events: • Neighborhood “sticky note” drop-off ( Date to be announced ), • Showering the Community, personal care item drives at select retailers ( Date to be announced ), and • Neighborhood bag (donation) pick up ( Date to be announced ). Community service is a hallmark of Girl Scouting, and we are committed to providing service opportunities for our girls in the future. We will make a decision about rescheduling April Showers by early-May.
