Girl Scouts are changing their corner of the world and beyond! Going for the Gold In 2017, Gold Award Girl Scout Rea earned the highest award in Girl Scouting by creating interactive study materials to help community members who are preparing to take the U.S. citizenship test. Rea said her Girl Scout Gold Award project was inspired by her own family’s experience — her parents took the exam after 17 years of living in the United States. After witnessing the difficulties of learning the intricacies of our government, Rea partnered with the Immigrant & Refugee Women’s Program to develop learning resources on Quizlet.com. These resources are available to the organization’s tutors and students to use and include hundreds of civic-related questions, forms, interactive games, vocabulary lists, test tips and printable flashcards.

“These materials were made to be shared,” Rea said. “This is useful information and I want them to be beneficial to as many people as possible.”

Rea is among an exceptional group of women who use their knowledge and leadership skills to make a positive change in the world.
