Community Action Coalition Children’s Room

Project Details: Working in partnership with the Community Action Coalition, an organization focused on stabilizing and enriching vulnerable households, Bethany renovated one of the organization’s children’s rooms. The children’s room is a special space for young family members to wait while their caregivers meet with social workers. Bethany cleaned and rearranged the space, added new bookshelves and lamps, and bought new sensory-friendly decor. Bethany’s renovation brought life into the space and now encourages children to use their imaginations and draw, complete puzzles or read to help promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Issue: Children struggling with financial issues often don’t have the resources to obtain enriching entertainment materials. Root Cause: It is often very expensive to buy enriching items such as puzzles and books, and places such as Community Action Coalition were only able to provide a television. Measurability: Bethany used surveys to gain feedback about the room. Sustainability: The CAC director has agreed to continue updating books and the snack supplies, as well as maintaining the facilities.
