This series of interactive courses from GSUSA is designed to give new troop leaders and assistant leaders the tools they need to take the reins of a troop for the first time.

New Leader Onboarding: What Girl Scouts Do (GSUSA)

Level: One Course Per Level

Under this course title are six separate ten-minute courses where leaders learn “what Girl Scouts do” at each program level, Daisy through Ambassador. Volunteers may explore them all or complete courses only for the levels represented in their troop. This set of courses should be the starting point for new troop leaders and assistant leaders as they begin their roles.

New Leader Onboarding: Family Engagement—The Key to Success (GSUSA) Level: All

Engaging families in their Girl Scout’s experience benefits troop leaders, Girl Scouts, and families. This 30-minute course illuminates the value of family engagement and provides practical strategies for enlisting family support. It also equips leaders with an agenda to plan a parent/caregiver meeting to set the tone for family engagement for the year.

New Leader Onboarding: Funding the Fun—Managing Girl Scout Finances (GSUSA) Level: All

In this 20-minute course, volunteers learn how to manage their troops’ income to fund meetings and activities. It also reviews how troops manage and report their finances to council.
