Fall 2024 Lead & Learn

First Aid, CPR and Mental Wellness

Emergencies require prompt action and quick judgment to ensure the safety of our members. Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri offers First Aid, CPR and Mental Wellness courses through the American Red Cross and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

At least one qualified general first aider with an Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR/AED certification must accompany a troop when they participate in certain activities. Consult Safety Activity Checkpoints to see if a first aider is required for a troop activity. Adult volunteers may complete this course through the American Red Cross or another council-approved agency, such as the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI). Some courses offered by ARC, AHA, or ASHI have separate certifications for First Aid, CPR, and AED. All three are required to be a Girl Scout general first aider, and there must be an in-person skills assessment component (no online-only courses).

The following items will be available for purchase at all GSEM American Red Cross courses:

• Adult or Pediatric First Aid, CPR/AED Ready Reference Skill Cards—$4 • CPR keychain with breathing barrier and gloves—$4.75
