Issue: Addressed the lack of female representation in the arts at the high school level, specifically in instrumental music

Root Cause: The lack of promotion, funding and support for girls interested in the arts in her area.

Project Details: Showcased female

role models in the arts community through an in-depth speaker series. She provided a voice for the female students in her area that were involved in the arts, so they had an opportunity to input and creative ideas. She also developed an Arts Council at her school to help with the continuation of the speaker series and opportunities for girls interested in these fields.

Target Audiences: Teen girls involved in instrumental music, teen girls at all-female schools, female music directors

Sustainability: The Arts Council will be managed by current students to continue providing opportunities for females in the arts and the speaker series was published online.

Project Goal: Recognize young females who are passionate about the arts and promote awareness of the arts within her community.
