Fall 2021 Lead & Learn

Yours in Girl Scouting

Dear Girl Scout Volunteers,

Dear fellow Girl Scout Volunteers,

Welcome to another edition of Lead & Learn and a new Girl Scout year!

Welcome back to another great year in Girl Scouting!

As a volunteer, when you embrace leadership in all forms and show girls what it means to be resilient during the challenging times, they learn to lead on their own terms. Before you know it, you’ll be trying to keep up with your unstoppable Girl Scouts! That’s the power of being a Girl Scout volunteer. I know volunteering takes time and commitment, so I can’t thank you enough for all the energy you give every day. Guiding your Girl Scouts—as you figure things out yourself— is nothing short of amazing. I see you, and I appreciate you. Please take the time to invest in and care for yourself this school year. You’re their hero— and mine too. From everyone at Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri: thank you.

The past 18 months have brought about many changes to the way we have to lead our girls into the future. I’ve been so impressed reading posts on Marvelous Mentoring and seeing how many of you thought outside the box to continue to bring quality programming to the girls in eastern Missouri. From baking wars to paint nights to virtual Day Camp, Girl Scouting continued in our region despite not being able to meet in person. Leaders overcame the challenges presented by a worldwide pandemic and local mandates and continued doing what they do best—building the leaders of tomorrow! As we begin a new year, my hope is that we can get back to our ”normal” way of doing things. No matter what this year looks like for you as a leader, I am confident that each one of you will shine!
