Striving for Greatness When starting your journey to earn one of Girl Scouts’ Highest Awards, selecting a project can be daunting! But, whatever issue you choose, you will change the world and inspire others (and yourself!) Read on to get inspiration from some of our recent Highest Awardees.

Protecting Pets - Troop 325 To earn their Bronze Award, Troop 325 worked together to make a positive change for the pets in their community. After researching different ideas for their project, the girls noticed little free libraries and food pantries, but not a resource for pet supplies. So, Lillian, Ansleigh, Chloe, Leah, Delaney, Matilda, Josie, Penelope, Kiera, Sophia, Allison, Lily, Izzy and Maya decided to build four pet food pantries. The girls designed the pantries and then led a team to construct their plans. Next, the girls purchased pet supplies using their troop funds and collected donated supplies, including two pallets of food from Purina. The new pet food pantries are placed around the St. Louis region for the community to obtain quality pet supplies.

Celebrating Differences - Troop 325 Rylee, Natalie, Haylie, Zoe, Jayla and Savannah of Troop 4601 decided to take action and make a difference in their community to earn their Bronze Award. After witnessing discrimination against themselves and their peers because of their race and ethnicity, these young change-makers organized an international festival to celebrate cultural differences and educate the community. The girls researched, planned and executed the event, including a special opening ceremony. During the event, the girls invited other troops to choose a country to represent and host a booth. These leaders created an environment to celebrate their differences and gain a better understanding of their peers.
