Hosted by the Girl Scout Mariners, girls and Mariners alike are invited to spend a fun weekend at camp which includes games, water sport instruction, sea shanties and more! Participants do not get in the water during this winter event. Girl Scout Mariners are girls in grades 6-12 and adult volunteers who enjoy water activities. They are part of “Ships” that get together during the year for fun, friendship and skill-building. Girls and adults interested in joining the Mariner program are encouraged to attend Winter GAM. Location: Camp Tuckaho, 163 Tuckaho Ln., Troy 63379 Grades 2-5 Learn all about bald eagles during this new STEM program! Girl Scouts will meet a live bald eagle, learn about the history of eagles, how their presence impacts our local communities and what we can do to help protect them. Girl Scouts will bird watch from the top of Melvin Price Locks and Dam to view bald eagles in their natural habitats. Location: National Great Rivers Museum in Alton, IL, located at #2 Lock and Dam Way, East Alton IL 62024 Grades K-12, Adults Splish splash! Girls have a blast at this winter indoor pool party! Swimming is a great way for girls to stay active during the dreary winter months and enjoy physical fitness with their friends. Girl Scout Daisies who are 5 years old are required to have an adult register and swim with them. Any adult wishing to stay must register for the event. Grades 7-8 Our older Girl Scouts have the opportunity to assist with Girl Scout programs for younger girls. Becoming a program aide allows Cadettes to volunteer for Council-led programs, as well as serve as a Day Camp Aide. This training provides girls with the appropriate tools to engage, create and lead programs to show younger girls what being an older Girl Scout is all about. This training is a requirement for Girl Scout Cadettes before earning their Program Aide pin. At the completion of this workshop, girls will be given instructions to complete the training and program opportunities for the future. Location: Berges Family Girl Scout Program Center, 2300 Ball Dr., St. Louis 63146 Grades 9-10 Girl Scout Seniors come together to understand the true meaning of sisterhood and empowerment.
