Woodworking with Mid American Carpenter’s Regional Council ☙

Curious about what it’s like to build something from the ground up? Spend the day getting hands-on with woodworking and construction alongside expert instructors from Mid-American Carpenter’s Regional Council. Girl Scouts will try their hand at real skills like carpentry, electrical basics, and flooring—plus learn about careers in the field and even construction first aid. Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to learn from experts, discover their own interest in woodworking, and even create their own project to take home as they build skills and independence!

Join Girl Scouts at the Saint Louis Zoo for a wild night out! We will enjoy a night of Zoo 101 programming provided by the amazing keepers, where we will learn the ins and outs of how animals are kept happy and healthy, as well as conservation efforts being made to save endangered species. Dinner, breakfast and snacks included.

Offered to: Junior | Cadette | Senior | Ambassador Grades 5-11; must be at least 12 years old at the time of program Take a deep dive with Bayer professionals into a look at STEM and Agriculture! Girl Scouts will get an exclusive tour of the facility and hear from inspiring women scientists about their careers in science and technology. We will hear from experts in various fields to learn about the many career opportunities at Bayer. Throughout the day, we’ll explore the importance of agriculture and discover how innovations in farming help protect our planet. Lunch included.

Gold Award Training— Go For Gold Aug. 5, 9:30 am-3:30 pm

Grades 9-12

This training workshop is for Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors who are interested in beginning their Gold Award. All Girl Scouts are eligible to earn this prestigious award, regardless if they earned the Silver Award as a Cadette. Please note that this is an expanded version of the required Gold Award training, therefore, Girl Scouts who attends this workshop will not have to attend additional training. Participants will learn the seven steps necessary to complete their Gold Award project, hear from Gold Award alum, meet members of the Gold Award committee, and begin working in the GoGold website. Since this workshop is provided for Seniors and Ambassador Girl Scouts, we welcome interested caregivers and troop leaders to attend a shorter Gold Award training session provided throughout the year.

Grades 8-12

Girl Scouts will deepen their outdoor skills and go on adventures with other older Girl Scouts! Seniors and Ambassadors will spend a weekend adventuring outdoors, sleeping under the stars (in a shelter they create!), and honing their outdoor expertise. A virtual, evening prep meeting will be held prior to the event. Meals and communal gear included. Girl Scout Seniors earn their Adventure Camper Badge and Take Action Award. Girl Scout Ambassadors earn their Survival Camper Badge and Take Action Award.
