On this Extreme Adventure, Girl Scouts will climb in trees at night under a full moon! Tree climbing is facilitated by certified instructors with safety equipment like harnesses and ropes. Girl Scouts do not need to have experience climbing, just a desire to try new things and comfortable spending time outdoors. Lodging (tents provided by Council) and breakfast will be provided. The Extreme Adventures programs offer 6-12 grade Girl Scouts unique and "extreme" outdoor related opportunities—see pg. 8 for more information about the program.

Are the mushrooms found in backyards edible? During this program, Girl Scouts will consult with an expert from Wild Seeds Field Museum and learn about different mushrooms that are edible. We will only identify (not pick) mushrooms, but Girl Scouts will be able to try provided samples. Girl Scouts will also learn about ethics and mindfulness regarding edible and non-edible plants and our natural landscape. Registered adults will also be able to participate in the program.

This workshop is for current 9th-12th grade Girl Scouts who are interested in beginning their Gold Award. All Girl Scouts are eligible to earn this prestigious award, regardless if they earned the Silver Award as a Cadette. Please note that this is an expanded version of the required Gold Award training, therefore, if a Girl Scout attends this workshop, they will not have to attend additional training. Since this workshop is provided for Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts, we welcome interested caregivers and troop leaders to attend a 2-hour Gold Award training session provided throughout the year if they would like to know more about the process to earn this award.
