Wild Mushroom Identification April 24 6:15-8:15 pm $15 per Girl Scout Max Girl Scouts: 20 Max Adults: 4 Reg. Deadline: April 10

Are the mushrooms found in backyards edible? During this program, Girl Scouts will consult with an expert from Wild Seeds Field Museum and learn about different mushrooms that are edible. We will only identify (not pick) mushrooms, but Girl Scouts will be able to try provided samples. Girl Scouts will also learn about ethics and mindfulness regarding edible and non-edible plants and our natural landscape. Registered adults will also be able to participate in the program.

Gold Award Training— Go For Gold April 26

This workshop is for current 9th-12th grade Girl Scouts who are interested in beginning their Gold Award. All Girl Scouts are eligible to earn this prestigious award, regardless if they earned the Silver Award as a Cadette. Please note that this is an expanded version of the required Gold Award training, therefore, if a Girl Scout attends this workshop, they will not have to attend additional training. Since this workshop is provided for Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts, we welcome interested caregivers and troop leaders to attend a 2-hour Gold Award training session provided throughout the year if they would like to know more about the process to earn this award.

Cadette Think Like a Citizen Scientist April 26 1-3:30 pm $35 per Girl Scout Max Girl Scouts: 20 Max Adults: 2 Reg. Girls will learn how citizen scientists make observations, collect data, and help scientists conduct scientific research. Then, we’ll apply what we’ve learned by surveying and identifying the living things that call camp home—including flowers, birds, reptiles, mammals and more! Girls will record their findings and share their observations with researchers and scientists using iNaturalist as part of the City Nature Challenge.

Girl Scout Cadettes complete Part 1 of Think Like a Citizen Scientist Badge.

Grades 9-12

This program is an open discussion for Girl Scouts pursuing the Gold Award, the highest leadership award a Senior or Ambassador Girl Scout can earn. Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors, caregivers and leaders are welcome to attend to meet the Program Manager-Highest Awards and members of the Gold Award Committee. We will answer questions about requirements, ideas, proposals and components. We can also assist Girl Scouts creating their account on the GoGold website. Gold Award training is not a prerequisite but can be beneficial before attending the open discussion.

Mental health is increasingly a focus of everyone's lives, and for good reason! Mental health is just another part of our health overall, and one that has been ignored or forgotten for many years. Celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month with a sleepover where we will explore the world of mental health and how we can be healthier and happier in our everyday lives.
