2024-2025 Inspire Discovery
Adult Volunteers We LOVE having our caregivers and troop leaders help with programs! For most of our programs, we open adult spots at no cost so adults can come help. Occasionally, our adult spots will have a small cost to cover entry fees or if there is a lunch option. When adults volunteer at a program, they can expect to have a lot of fun with a diverse group of participants but please keep in mind that some of our programs can get a little messy or include high-energy activities. Our adult volunteers help with hands-on activities, games, snack time and general supervision. They can even help support the curriculum of the program if they have a special skill or experience that relates to the topic. For example, if a volunteer is registered to help
at the Engineering with Gingerbread program and is an engineer, we'd love to have them share their story with our participants. Volunteers can indicate their interest in helping during the registration process under 'special circumstances' or let us know by emailing Nicole Dalton at ndalton@girlscoutsem.org .
Adults Participating in Programs Some of our programs also offer participation options for adults, like our Girls in the Know program that includes the adults joining in on the activities. Please note that those programs will have a fee associated with the adult spot and their responsibility will be to enjoy the program with their Girl Scout.
Role Models and Program Aides
Looking for volunteer opportunities or know of someone who would like to volunteer with Girl Scouts? They can sign up to join Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri's volunteer group, Role Models! Role Models are volunteers ages 18+ who will have an amazing opportunity to help girls develop leadership skills while they participate in activities and games, as well as help with other tasks like check in/out and snacks. • Volunteer opportunities include programs for Girl Scouts in grades K-12. • Programs vary from a couple of hours on a weeknight to longer weekend programs from 4-6 hours. • Most programs take place at our Berges Family Girl Scout Program Center. A few programs take place at alternate locations, like our camp properties or other locations around the St. Louis area. • We ask that Role Models volunteer for at least four programs throughout the year. For more information on these opportunities and to learn about our volunteer incentives, reach out to Abby Muir at amuir@girlscoutsem.org .
Role Models in Training Our new volunteer group, Role Models in Training, is for Girl Scouts who have completed the Program Aide or Volunteer in Training Programs. Role Models in Training will be able to assist with any Daisy, Brownie, or Junior badge or Journey workshop. We ask that Role Models in Training volunteer for a minimum of two programs throughout the year. Turn to the Older Girl program section, starting on pg. 72, to see opportunities to complete the the Program Aide training.
