Like badges, Patch Programs are designed to be progressive and skill-building so that Girl Scouts may deepen their understanding of important topics over their Girl Scout lifetime. For example, a Cybersecurity badge is offered at every level of Girl Scouting. As a Girl Scout Daisy (K-1st grade), a girl learns what a computer is, how they work and what safety and protection means. By 11th 12th grade as a Girl Scout Ambassador, she is debating the ethics of hacking, learning to secure data, and exploring cyber careers. Patch Programs can also be offered as a series to one Girl Scout level, nurturing deeper understanding at the right age-appropriate moment for the topic.
