2022 April Showers Troop Participation Guide

Showering the Community Guidelines

Please note: specific details on Showering the Community will be shared closer to the event. Guidelines may vary depending on the store.

On April 2, 2022, Girl Scouts will be “Showering the Community” at local stores throughout our jurisdiction. District/Neighborhood Coordinators will be responsible for managing the collection at their local participating store, scheduling all troops in their area, ensuring the items are counted and reports are turned in. Troops will volunteer to work at least two hours at their local participating store before or after they distribute April Showers sticky notes. Girls are welcome to wear rain boots, raincoats and carry umbrellas if available, to help promote.

Troops are Needed in the Following Areas: • Front doors of store handing out paper raindrops that list personal care items needed

• Exit doors of store collecting donated items • Moving donated items to counting area • Counting donated items and crossing out UPC codes

Troops must turn in total collection numbers to District Coordinators by Sunday, April 3. Showering the Community reporting form will be provided.

Each girl that participates in the Showering the Community event for the first time will receive a raindrop patch as a thank you. All girls that continue to participate each year will receive a year segment.

"I like participating in April Showers because it’s the feeling you get when you know you did something good. You give something from the bottom of your heart and you don’t expect anything in return. This is greater than if you do something nice for someone and expect them to do something nice in return. Community service helps open your heart and you become more of a happier person than you were before. "
