2019 Camp Adventure Guide
CamP lIKE A G. I. R. L.
Welcome to the Camp Adventure Guide!
Leaders: At Girl Scout Camp, girls take action and own leadership roles every day. Whether she guides the hike because she knows the way or serves as a mentor to a younger camper, our G. I. R. L. s are confident and responsible! We are proud of our membership’s collective investment in and excitement for our Girl Scout Camps. It’s amazing—our girls and their families continue to choose Girl Scout Camp. Since 2014, camper retention has grown year over year. This is a strong endorsement that we are headed in the right direction on our journey to ensure no girl is left inside! We hope you enjoy reading the 2019 Camp Adventure Guide with your Girl Scout as she prepares to Camp Like a G. I. R. L. ! Registration opens Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018. See you around the campfire this summer!
At Girl Scout camp, the adventure is high and the fun is big—really big! Girls try new things and step out of their comfort zone while gaining confidence and independence at camp. It’s where girls make new friends in an environment that is just for them . Camping is a great way for girls to explore their leadership abilities, develop a deep appreciation for nature and build skills hard to gain elsewhere like building a campfire, horseback riding, archery, sailing, hiking, robotics and more. Whether for a day, a week or longer, Girl Scout Camp provides G. I. R. L. s ( Go-getters , Innovators , Risk-takers , Leaders )™ an opportunity to grow, explore and have fun under the guidance of caring, trained adults. Girl Scout Camp is the ultimate G. I. R. L. -powered adventure! Go-Getters: Girls step outside their comfort zones and try the unfamiliar. They connect with new friends and become buddies to first-time campers who need a guiding hand. Innovators: Campers explore unique solutions during programs like Camp STEM Voyager, Camp Fury STL, Roughin’ It or Epic Adventure Week. Girls are presented with obstacles and together, as a team, put their critical-thinking skills to the test! Risk-Takers: Last summer at camp, 83 percent of girls tried something new! Our campers are courageous and strong—keen to embrace new adventures.
